Hey!! A couple of weeks back I posted all about taking care of your lips. You can check that post out here. I’m obsessed with chapsticks and lip products because I can’t stand having dry, cracked lips. Lately, I’ve been really reading the ingredients that are in the products that I use. I was shocked to see how many chemicals are in some of these products. Some of them were pretty natural but I wanted something completely natural (it’s the hippie in me to love all natural products). So being a DIY’er, I thought how cool it would be to make my own chapsticks! Then I would know exactly what I’m using on my lips. I did some research and came up with the perfect all natural, organic chap stick. It toook me three tries but hey, third times a charm right? So if you want to learn how you can make your own chap sticks with all natural ingredients just keep reading.
- 2 Tablespoons Organic Coconut Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Organic Shea Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Organic Beeswax
- 10-15 drops of your favorite Essential Oil
- 12 Chap stick Containers
I hung the Pyrex on the side of a saucepan filled with a little bit of water. The beeswax took the longest to melt, about 10 minutes. Once melted, add your favorite essential oil to add some flavor to your chapsticks. I used a lavender essential oil. Or you can leave out the essential oil and have a non scented chapstick.
I set the chap stick containers on a paper towel and slowly poured the melted mixture into each tube. I had to work fast because it will begin to harden as it cools.
Let the mixture harden. It doesn’t take long to harden, maybe an hour. This recipe fills up 12 containers. I know, 12! But I gave some away to friends and family to get their feedback. I also purchased labels for the containers but I couldn’t figure out how to print them right for the life of me!! I’ll figure it out some day lol.
Now all you have to do is enjoy your Organic, All Natural, DIY chapsticks! They’re so smooth and so moisturizing. They just melt into your lips. I had to much fun making these. I loved that my friends and family enjoyed them as well. If you try this out let me know how they turned out for you. Thanks again for stopping by.
