Lip Care 101

Lip Care 101

As much as I love makeup, I’m equally obsessed with skin care. Part of skin care is our lips! I love to have super hydrated lips but using chap stick isn’t enough. We should be taking care of our lips the same way we take care of our skin. Especially if you wear a lot of lipsticks or liquid lipsticks that can be so drying to your lips. If you don’t take care of your lips, those liquid lipsticks will not look cute. Nobody likes dry, cracked lips.

I do these steps three times a week. So if you want to know how I take care of my lips, keep on reading.

*I took these pictures with no makeup on and my camera really caught all my imperfections, but I’m cool with that and I hope it encourages you to know that it’s ok to show off your true self. You’re beautiful, with or without makeup or filters 🙂

Steps:

Exfoliate: I start by using Lush Cosmetics Lip Scrub in the flavor Mint Julips. I sometimes make my own scrub (I’ll do a post on that soon) but every time I go into Lush, I have to pick this baby up. Lush products are all natural and I’m all about that all natural life. I just love the flavor. Just apply it to your lips and scrub for about a minute, to remove any dry, flaky skin. You don’t even have to rinse if off, just lick it away. Taste so good.

Lip Mask: After exfoliating I like to sooth the lips with a hydrating or repairing lip mask. These lip masks from Sephora are great and super affordable. They’re infused with powerful natural ingredients and will leave your lips super hydrated. The rose mask moisturizes and softens and the Shea mask protects and soothes if your lips are super dry.  Check them out here.

This step is optional but it’s what I do so I though I’d include it. This is called the Liptiful Plumping & Facial Toning Tool. This tool natural strengthens the facial and lip muscles. Over time, it will plump your lips safely. If you want to find out more check out their website or Instagram.

Moisturize: I love a good lip balm. Just like my skin care, I splurge on lip products. I hate regular chap-sticks from a drugstore because I feel like you have to apply them all the time. These are some of my favorites. Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment goes everywhere with me! Makes your lips super soft and lasts a few hours! Even after eating I can still feel this on my lips. Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Smashed. This has a hint of color so it’s perfect for when you want to moisturize and have some color at the same time. Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve. This is my favorite product to use right before I go to sleep. I’ll wake up and my lips are so soft. This product comes in a tin or a tube. And it’s only $6!

So take care of those lips! Thanks for stopping by.
