Easy DIY Makeup Brush Holders Using Old Candle Jars

One of my very first jobs was at Bath & Body Works. This was almost 13 years ago! (I’m getting old). Working there made me fall in love with their candles. The scents are amazing, they burn clean, and the jars are super cute. I go through so many of them and the jars are so cute that I hate to throw them out. So, I reuse them. I reuse these jars to store cotton balls, my hair ties, or samples of makeup I need to try. But one of my favorite ways to reuse them is making them into a holder for my makeup brushes. I switch them out all the time to reflect different holidays or seasons.

Here’s how I do it.

Use your candles until they can’t burn anymore. Make sure the wax has cooled completely. Stick the candle jar into the freezer for 1-2 hours.

Right when you take them out of the freezer, take a butter knife and push the knife down between the wax and the jar. Do this about three times around the jar. Once the wax is loose, tip the jar over and the wax will fall right out. Don’t throw the wax away! You can break it up and melt it in a wax warmer.

The labels peel right off of the jars with no leftover residue.

I use different varieties of decorative fillers for the jars, depending on the color and look I’m going for. You can find decorative fillers like this at any craft store or on Amazon here.

Now just fill your jars with the filler of your choice and arrange your  makeup brushes to your liking. What I love most about these is you can add any color beads or rocks to go with the look you want. It’s an easy DIY.

So very clever!!!! Love the idea and they’re so pretty too! Ps I’m obsessed with peppermint marshmallow. My original fave is Fireside Marshmallow, but one time I was in Bath and Body and couldn’t find it and fell upon peppermint marshmallow and I was instantly sold! I think I bought like 3-4 of them this past winter lol
