With so many primers on the market, it’s hard to find one that works for you. I remember just a few years ago when primers weren’t even a thing. Now, I don’t know how I wore makeup without them. I use different primers for different reasons. I love how my foundation looks when I use them. Sometimes I even use more than one at the same time. My best advice when it comes to finding the one that works for your skin, buy the sample sizes. You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg on a primer that you don’t even know will work for you.Even though I know what works for me, I still buy the sample sizes because they last me a long time and a little goes a long way. Here’s a breakdown on my favorite primers.
I use this primer every time I do my makeup, to set my makeup and I even use it when I’m not wearing any makeup. It gives my skin that extra hydration that it needs without making my skin oily. It wakes up my skin and is really refreshing. It’s alcohol, oil, and silicone free. This on it’s own doesn’t give me that primed finish that I like so I just spray a couple of sprays and then use another primer on top of this one.
When my skin is feeling dry (yes it happens sometimes even with oily skin) I use this primer. It’s very hydrating and leaves a natural, dewy appearance under foundation. It looks like a white lotion and I feel like it also makes my skin brighter. I love how it’s infused with coconut water, and probiotics. It’s like an energy drink for your skin.
My favorite primer of all time! I use this primer when I want my makeup to look great in pictures or for a special occasion. It blurs out any imperfections and creates the perfect canvas for foundation. I have larger pores around my nose area and this primer hides them perfectly! I always buy the sample size and it lasts me months! I also will use this primer when I don’t wear foundation because it has a fleshy color to it that is perfect for my skin tone and just makes my skin look flawless. It’s also oil free which is a must for me!
This bottle has lasted me so long! I might have to get a new one soon depending on the shelf life, I have to check on that. I only use this primer when I have a pimple or if my skin is looking inflamed and red. I never use it all over my face. I’ve tried that before and it made my skin pretty oily. But, it’s amazing at color correcting redness. It has an apricot color to it that counteracts discoloration and dark spots. It evens out the redness to match the rest of my skin tone.
This is a lot like the Benefit Porefessional. The color is the exact same! I feel like this primer keeps me more matte than the Benefit primer though. I use this primer almost everyday. It blurs out my pores and any imperfections my skin might have. It absorbs any oils and isn’t drying.
When I need to have a super matte finish this is my go to primer. This primer keeps me matte all day long. Oils don’t stand a chance when I use this primer. I mostly use this primer in the summer months when my skin is extra oily. Or I use this when I know my makeup is going to be on for awhile. I mostly use this in my t-zone that gets more oily than the rest of my face, then I’ll use another primer for the outside of my face. If you need to be matte, get this primer.
